All of us at Prestige Bookshop are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Prestige employee and friend to many Patrons, Protus Lijodi, which occurred this morning, January the 18th 2024. Protus was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2023 and had been undergoing treatment until his demise.

Protus has been part of the Prestige family for close to two decades. He was always energetic, lively, helpful, curious, and the ever ready jokester. Wherever Protus was, there was glee, cheer, and laughter. His friendly nature made everyone who interacted with Prestige feel welcome, and many friends of Prestige were first and foremost, friends of Protus.

Protus’ contributions to Nairobi’s and Kenya’s literature scene were and continue to be immense, and his mark on this community will continue to be a source of inspiration.

Words cannot express the depth of this loss, and we hope that everyone who knows Protus can take a pause to celebrate his life and work. Protus will be terribly missed and we are sending love and condolences to his loved ones. He leaves behind his wife and four children.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
